The Bay Area Geek Therapist Guild is intended for any professional (not just in the Bay Area) who are interested in dialoguing and collaborating with colleagues in the intersection of psychology, psychotherapy, and gaming. Welcome members can be psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists and counselors, and academics practicing in and studying this domain. Although non-professional folks engaged in this space are sent much geeky love, because mental health professionals and academics have a particular shared language and conceptual base, we thought it would be useful to try to collect such folks in a small space and see what enlivening combustion might happen. As this field burgeons, we want to contribute to, and facilitate, the spreading of information and ideas in this space, as well as to connect disparate colleagues to develop relationships that can catalyze new insights, and maybe even opportunities to have fun together in person!
